YEREVAN, September 27 — During the Armenian President’s working visit to the U.S., on September 26 Sarkisian took part in the reception organized by the Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in honor of the Armenian President.
The President expressed his gratitude to the Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, local authorities and all the people who are friends of the Armenian nation for the warm welcome, as well as for the friendly attitude towards the Armenians.
“Hundreds of thousands of my compatriots have had an opportunity to live in freedom, to ensure their well-being, and accordingly, to have their contribution in the success of both Los Angeles and the U.S. We are grateful to the U.S. for such an attitude. Our friendship will last forever, and I’m happy that the Armenian-American relations have strengthened in recent years. We have a history of thousands of years, but we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of our independence. We are a country with a young democracy, but we have been guiding the country for about 1700 years on the democratic basis. And today also, the support of the friendly countries helps to ensure progress in our country,” the Armenian President noted.
Concluding the working visit to the U.S., Sarkisian left for France.
