YEREVAN (A1 plus) – On December 25 Serge Sarkisian signed a decree on granting world weightlifting champion of 2009 Nazik Vardanyan-Avdalyan the 2nd degree medal “For services to the Homeland” for keeping the honor of Armenia’s athletes high, properly representing Armenia abroad and promoting the development of weightlifting in the Republic of Armenia.

According to another presidential decree, weightlifting trainer at the children’s sports school of Ararat region Garnik R. Alexanyan and chief trainer of the Armenian women’s weightlifting team Artashes A. Nersisyan were granted the Movses Khorenatsi medal for their notable contribution to the development of weightlifting in Armenia and great achievements in preparing young athletes.
