Ceremony of Russian Church Foundation Held in Stepanakert
Jun 21st, 2010 | Category: SocialYEREVAN (Novosti-Armenia), June 21-The President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Bako Sahakyan, attended the ceremony of a Russian church foundation held in Stepanakert on Friday, the presidential press service reported.
According to the report in the place where the church should be built, stands a cross.
“At the ceremony, the president noted the importance of Nagorno-Karabakh’s sustained development and deepening of friendly relations between the two nations and states, noting in this regard the important role of Karabakh’s Russian community,” read the report.
The event was attended by the leader of the Nagorno-Karabakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, the Chairman of the Nagorno-Karabakh’s National Assembly, Ashot Gulyan, and other officials as well as the representatives of the Russian community of Nagorno-Karabakh and guests from the Russian Federation.
Gulyan noted that the planned construction of the church is another sign of Armenian-Russian friendship.
