YEREVAN, February 17 – On February 16, the Armenian President Serge Sarkisian met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Gilauri. During the meeting Sarkisian particularly noted that the Armenian-Georgian trade and economic relations are developing, there is a positive trend, but the trade volume is still not satisfactory, so there should be more active efforts in that direction. The press service of the Armenian President reports about this.
Sarkisian and Glauri also spoke about culture, education and about the implementation of cooperation in other spheres.
“I think that we should develop our cultural relations. During my last meeting with the Georgian President, Mikheil Saakashvili talked about the intention to allocate grants for the education of Armenian students in Georgian universities. We will also do the same with Georgian Students in the Republic of Armenia. We should use any opportunity to facilitate contacts between the younger generation. Georgia and the Republic of Armenia have been good friends for thousands of years, and we should transfer this friendship to coming generations.” Sarkisian said.
Georgian Prime Minister conveyed Saakashvili’s warm greetings to the Armenian President and reiterated the invitation of Mikheil Saakashvili to Serge Sarkisian to visit Georgia.
