Armenias Foreign Trade Turnover Increased By 385 Percent Armenias Foreign Trade Turnover Increased By 38.5 PercentYEREVAN (ARKA), June 2–Armenia’s foreign trade turnover with EU countries  reached $454.5 million in January-April, an increase of 38.5 percent compared with the same period last year.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the share of EU countries during the period made 32.3 percent of the total foreign trade turnover of Armenia.

Exports from Armenia to the European Union amounted to $157.6 million (about 54.4 percent of the total exports from Armenia), an increase of 91.3 percent compared with January-April 2009. And the volume of imports from the EU amounted to $ 247.7 million (an increase of 23.1 percent), or about 22.1 percent of total imports.

At the same time, if we consider imports by country of origin, the figure was approximately $ 296.8 million, an increase of 20.8 percent compared with January-April 2009.

The largest share of foreign trade turnover of Armenia in the EU has fallen to Germany at 7 percent or about $98.6 million, followed by Bulgaria – about $84 million or 6 percent, Belgium – $51.9 million or 3.7 percent, Italy – $34.8 million or 2.5 percent, Netherlands – $29.4 million or 2.1 percent, and France – $29 million or 2.1 percent.
