At Least Two Azerbaijani Soldiers Killed During Attack on Artsakh Post
Sep 2nd, 2010 | Category: PoliticsYEREVAN, September 2–Azerbaijan confirms that yesterday two Azerbaijani soldiers died as a result of the armed confrontation on the contact line between Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) and Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said that on August 31, there was an organized diversionary attack from the Armenian side, as a result of which two Armenian and three Azerbaijani soldiers were killed.
The head of the press service of the Nagorno Karabakh Defense Army Senor Hasratyan says that the information Azerbaijan spreads is just more misinformation designed to confuse the international community.
According to Hasratyan, the Azerbaijani special mission units tried to attack the Armenian position, but the Armenian soldiers managed to repel the attack. Seven Azerbaijani soldiers were killed or injured; the names of the killed soldiers are Vugar Amirov and Pervin Abdullayev. Hasratyan also said that one Armenian soldier, 19-year-old Rudik Manaseryan, was injured, but now he’s recovering.
“I think this wasn’t only a drive against the diversionary group, it was a small local military victory, which will have its serious moral influence and will certainly lead to some productive consequences,” Sergei Shakaryants, an Armenian political analyst said.
