Trade and Economic Cooperation Between Russia, Armenia ‘Unique’

YEREVAN (ARKA), March 4—The trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Armenia is unique, said the Counselor of the Embassy of Russia in Armenia and the Head of Mission of the Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo” in Yerevan, Victor Krivopuskov.

“Today, Russia’s share in the total commodity turnover of Armenia is more than 22percent,” he said Wednesday in the International Press Center, “Novosti.”

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in January to December 2009 the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia decreased by 14.9 percent and made up $901.4 million. Approximately 22.5 percent of Armenia’s total foreign trade turnover was done with Russia last year.

In June 2009, Russia provided Armenia with a loan of $500 million, which is provided at a concessional rate plus 3 percent to maintain the country’s economy in crisis.
