Spain To Promote Stronger Ties Between EU and Armenia

YEREVAN (Novosti-Armenia), March 3—Spain is ready to assist in the deepening of the Armenia-EU relations, according to Migel Angel Martinos, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, during his meeting with the president of Armenia Serge Sarkisian.
“Today we have an intensive agenda of dialog, and Spain, during its presidency in the EU, is ready to assist in the further development of bilateral relations in all the aspects of cooperation,” Moratinos said.
Minister Moratinos arrived in Armenia on Tuesday as the Head of the EU Delegation.
He expressed confidence that the high-level visit open a new page in the relations between Armenia and the European Union. He also said that they they give an opportunity to exchange views on the overall vision of the future.
“This visit serves as a proof of the strategic vision of the EU to deepen the relations with Armenia,” noted Moratinos.
Sarkisian and Moratinos discussed in details the priorities of the agenda of the cooperation between Armenia and the EU. They also addressed the issues related to negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement, as well as the facilitation for issuing entry visas and an agreement of association.
Sarkisian congratulated Moratinos on the transition of Spain to the presidency of the European Union and the entry into force of the Lisbon agreement. He also praised the current level of cooperation and political dialog between Armenia and the EU, stressing the importance of its further development. Sarkissian also expressed gratitude for the EU economic and financial contribution of the advisory assistance to Armenia.
