Nagorno Karabakh 300x219 Nagorno Karabakh Attracting More Foreign TouristsYEREVAN (Novosti-Armenia), March 3—According to the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, despite the global financial crisis, the total number of foreign visitors there in the second, third and fourth quarters of 2009 has increased up to 10 percent over the same period in 2008.

Last year, tourists from Mozambique, Guyana, Mauritania and Venezuela visited Nagorno-Karabakh for the first time.

Among the tourists, a significant number of citizens were from the United States, France, Iran, Great Britain, Holland, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, Poland, India and CIS countries– in particular Russia and Turkmenistan.

“These figures suggest that in foreign countries and among foreign citizens the interest in Nagorno Karabakh continues to grow. This process is also promoted by the reliable information of various international media on the Karabakh problem, as well as the country’s history and rooting in democratic principles, ” the statement read.
