YEREVAN (Aysor.am), March 2–A high-level delegation of the European Union led by Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos arrived in Armenia. Within the framework of the visit the delegation met Armenian President Serge Sarkisian and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian. The meeting of the Armenian and Spanish foreign ministers was followed by a joint press conference.
At the request of journalists Minister Nalbandian touched upon the statement made by Frank Pallone, the co-chair of the US Congress’s committee supporting Armenia for the 22nd anniversary of Sumgait massacres, which said that the organizers of the Armenian massacres in Sumgait will be punished.
“I am sorry that the organizers of the massacres of peaceful and unarmed inhabitants in Sumgait and Baku are left unpunished. And it’s a pity that after the independence of Azerbaijan the criminals and the murderers received freedom,” Minister Nalbandian said. He assured that sooner or later the criminals will get their punishment.
“Armenia will continue putting efforts in punishing the criminals,” he said.
“I am also sure that the time will come when the real organizers of the Khojaly crimes, which the former Azerbaijani President Mutalibov witnessed as well as other Azerbaijani sources that are being chased today, will be discovered and will be punished,” he said.
