YEREVAN (ARKA), February 25—The volume of the renewed electric power produced in Armenia in 2009 has grown in 2.5 times and has made 300 million kWh, said Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Areg Galstyan on Wednesday in Parliament.
He said that 30 percent of all the electric power in Armenia should be produced from renewed sources, and Armenia manages to do this.
He also said that if Armenia manages to keep these tendencies and use new facilities, particularly thermal energy, wind power and hydro potential, the percent of the electric power produced from the renewed sources will grow even higher.
He also said that the international partners of Armenia, particularly the German bank KfW, will realize projects for the development of the renewable energy.
The Deputy Minister also reminded that renewable energy, regardless of its production source, is being bought by electricity networks within 15 years by the rate established by the Public Services Regulatory Commission.
The volume of the electricity produced by the Armenian APP in 2009, made 2,493.7 million kWh, which is 1.3 percent more than in 2008.
The volume of the electricity generated by CHP plants in 2009 decreased by 38.4 percent (comparing to 2008) and made 1,128.5 million kWh. The volume of the electricity produced by the Armenian hydrostation increased by 12.4 percent to 2,044.7 million kWh. In addition, 4.3 million kWh was generated by wind power, 2.3 times more than the same period in 2008.
