YEREVAN, August 18–The educational system in Armenia has improved greatly lately. According to the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Armen Ashotyan, the corruption in this system has decreased.
He said that the number of places in the universities has increased this year (the number of paid places has increased by about 6,000), and it reduced the possibility of corruption risks. He also added that perhaps the time has come to revise the current university entrance examination system in the following 1-2 years.
According to Ashotyan, the methodical guidebook “Education against Corruption,” developed by the Ministry of Education and Science, the charitable organization “The future is yours” and the USAID, would help to fight against corruption.
The educational system of Armenia was also discussed by the prime minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and the participants of the fourth Pan-Armenian Educational Forum on Tuesday.
The participants of the Forum discussed the current challenges in education in Armenia, Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) and Armenian communities abroad, marked the path of cooperation and clarified the future plans and activities.
