YEREVAN, August 9–According to Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisian, the tendencies of the first half of 2010 show that the construction sphere in Armenia is gradually recovering from crisis.
“It’s not a secret that 2009 was a year of serious trials, first of all for the construction sphere. We had a decrease in capital investments, the results of which we noticed in the economic system,” Sarkisian said.
According to the Prime Minister, the development of the construction sphere is greatly due to the major programs sponsoreed by the state budget.
Sarkisian also stressed the importance of the new initiatives of the Armenian Ministry of Urban Development, which bring changes to the builders’ functions. He reminded about the implementation of the pilot project on a segment of the Garni-Geghard road, aimed at establishing a new tourist center.
“Similar projects will be implemented on the whole territory of Armenia in order to attract the attention of private investors to new construction projects, which should be in keeping with the socio-economic developments of our country,” Sarkisian said.
