Medvedev to Visit Armenia

YEREVAN, August 6–Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will visit Armenia on August 19, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.
Medvedev will take part in the CSTO three-day summit, which will start on August 20 in Yerevan. The summit will also be attended by six presidents of the CSTO member states.
During Medvedev’s visit he will meet with President Serge Sarkisian. Questions concerning Russian-Armenian relations will be discussed.
The Russian President will also visit Gyumri, where the 102nd Russian military base is deployed.
About a month ago during his meeting with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister and the President of the National Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, Sarkisian mentioned that Medvedev’s visit to Armenia will open a new stage of bilateral relations.
Artur Baghdasarian, the Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council, also gave importance to Medvedev’s visit. During his interview given to the Public Television of Armenia he mentioned that the visit is an important, landmark event.
According to him security problems will also be discussed during Medvedev’s visit.
“There are certain programs and projects. I am sure that some of them will be implemented during the visit,” Baghdasarian said.
