Grape Production On the Rise in Armenia

YEREVAN, August 5–In Armenia the grape harvest in 2010 is expected to exceed last year’s indicator by 7,000 tons.
According to the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture, the harvest in 2009 amounted to about 200-205,000 tons, exceeding the 2008 indicator by 20,000 tons.
On August 4 the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture paid a working visit to Ararat region. The visit was headed by the Armenian Vice Premier Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan.
Information on the rates of the production and sale of agricultural products for the first half of 2010 was represented to the Vice Premier.
Questions concerning the expected rates of grapes in the Ararat region and the crop purchasing process were also discussed during the visit.
