Yerevan Buildings to Be Made Safe for Earthquakes

YEREVAN (Tert.am), February 9—In 2010, 500 million dram will be allocated for strengthening and reconstructing multi-level buildings that have been defined as being vulnerable to earthquakes.
According to the head of the construction and organization department at Yerevan City Hall, Frunz Basentsyan, six buildings will be reconstructed during this year in Yerevan on Ararat, Gyumri, Komitas, Shopron and Kievyan streets.
Data published in January indicated that there are 82 buildings in the city that have reached the third-level danger zone in terms of earthquake safety.
