Singapore to Host the First Youth Olympic Games

YEREVAN, August 3–The first Youth Summer Olympic Games will be held in Singapore on August 14-26. It will host more than 3,500 young athletes, aged between 14 and 18, who will compete in 184 events in 26 sports.
Fourteen young athletes from Armenia will also take part in the Olympic games and will compete in 11 sports, the Armenian Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs informs.
Weightlifters Smbat Markarian (56kg weight class, Yerevan) and Gor Minasian (more than 85 kg, Gyumri), shot put thrower Romik Vardumian (Yerevan), archer Vasil Shahnazarian (Merdzavan), gymnast Vahan Vardanian (Yerevan), judoist David Ghazarian (66kg, Vanadzor) and boxer Hrayr Matevosian (60kg, Yerevan) will compete in Singapore Youth Olympic Games.
Wrestler of Greco-Roman style Varos Petrosian (85kg, Gyumri), freestyle wrestler Artak Hovhannisian (46kg, Hoktemberian), runner Diana Khubeserian (Yerevan), diver Gevorg Papoian (Yerevan), rower Edgar Babaian (Yerevan) and swimmers Anahit Barseghian and Sergey Pevnev (Yerevan) are also included in the delegation.
The Armenian delegation will arrive in Singapore on August 10 and will be back to Armenia on August 29.
