Washington Eager to Continue Strengthening US-Armenia Ties

YEREVAN (Newsarmenia.ru), February 8 — Washington is eager to continue the strengthening of the US-Armenia relations, informed James Stainberg, the first deputy of the US State Secretary during an interview with Armenian Public TV.

The diplomat noted that during his visit he discussed with President Serge Sarkisian questions of the expansion of U.S – Armenia relations in various spheres, in particular concerning the increase of trade, cultural exchanges and interaction in the field of safety.

He also noted that Washington gives importance to periodic contacts with the Armenian community in the US.  According to Stainberga, in Obama’s Presidential Administration many meetings with the Armenian community were held.

“I consider it very important to keep communications with those Americans that show interest in their native land and represent important community in the US. They help us better understand the situation,” Stainberg said.

In particular, according to the diplomat, besides interaction with Armenia Washington supports strong relations with Georgia and continues to assist the Georgian government.

“We also have communications with Azerbaijan and Turkey and are eager to  help with the decision of existing contradictions,” Stainberg said.
