YEREVAN, July 10 — A memorandum of understanding was signed on Monday during the Farnborough air show between «Roscosmos» and Republic of Armenia according to which a commercial communications sattelite will be created for Armenia. It was announced by the head of Russian space agency Roscosmos Vladimir Popovkin during a press-conference, reports Ria Novosti agency.
Armenia`s first satellite will be created by Russian JSC «Information Space Systems» – Reshetnev Company. It is expected to carry 15 transponders. Neither the value of deal nor the timeline for the satellite’s construction was disclosed.
Early in April the Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan held discussions on satellite project with officials from the Russian Central Research Institute of Machine Building back.
