YEREVAN, June 4 — U.S. State Department excludes Azerbaijan from the list of recipient countries which have right to purchase American military equipment for their helicopters, informs Armenian National Committe of America (ANCA).

According to the source the decision was made in response to Congressional concerns raised by House Affairs Committee Ranking Democrat Howard Berman (D.-CA) that Azerbaijan could use the U.S military equipment for its ongoing attacks against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.

«Secretary Clinton`s decision proceeds from the interests of the Armenian people and is for peace in the region», said Berman after receiving the formal notification from the State Department on June 27th.

Earlier in its letter to Secretary Clinton, Berman declared against sale of military equipment stressing that it would be used in conjunction with Azerbaijan`s military helicopters for «border surveillance and «police-type activities».
