Armenia And Iran To Build Meghri Hydroelectric Plant

YEREVAN, June 5 – Iran and Armenia agreed to build a hydroelectric power plant on the Arax river, which is on the border of two countries, Press TV reports.
The agreement was reached during the visit of Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou’s to Republic of Armenia on Saturday. The construction of the joint power plant will commence on August 22, 2012. The capacity of the hydroelectric power plant bestriding the border river will be 130 megawatts of electricity.
Construction works will start simultaneously in Meghri region of Armenia and Qarachilar region of Iran.
