The Coalition May Be Formed of «Two and a Half Parties», Armenian Expert
By Sona Gevorgian
YEREVAN, May 23 — According to the political scientist Alexander Iskandarian, the director of Caucasian Institute, the ruling coalition of the Republic of Armenia will probably consists of «two and a half parties». I have no doubts about forming a coalition as it has become a tradition in the third Republic. The question is what kind of coalition it will be and which political parties will join it, Ria Novosti Armenia quotes the expert as saying.
According to him, the coalition will consist of two political parties at the minimum: Republican Party winning the Parliament majority and «Orinats Yerkir», being created with the aim of joining the coalition after the elections.
I`m speaking about «two parties and a half» forming the coalition without no reference that Prosperous Armenia is «half a party». I mean that the talks between political powers are being held and it`s probable than a new form coalition will be offered. May be it will be a full-pledged coalition or just a form of an alliance, he stated.
Iskandarian noted that it will be very difficult for Prosperous Armenia to become an opposition as it`s not its role and it doesn`t have appropriate instruments for it. Moreover, it`s not isolated from the incumbent authorities to play a role of true opposition.
The Armenian political scientist believes that the possibility of PAP joing the coalition depends on what it will be offered.
