Economic Growth in Armenia at 6.7 Percent

YEREVAN, July 21–In January-June, 2010, the GDP growth in Armenia, compared to the same period in 2009, made up 6.7 percent. The GDP in January-June amounted to $3.7 billion.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the volume of industrial production in Armenia during that period (compared to 2009) increased by 12.3 percent and amounted to 370.8 billion dram.

In the construction sector in January-June, compared to the same period in 2009, there was a 4.1 percent growth. And in agriculture, a 13.1 percent decline was recorded.

Producer prices of industrial production in Armenia increased by 32.6 percent, and consumer prices increased by 7.3 percent.

The volume of foreign trade turnover for January-June increased over the same period in 2009 to 29.8 percent and amounted to $2.16 million (832.6 billion dram).

According to the state budget of Armenia, the GDP growth in 2010 is planned at the level of 1.2 percent.
