YEREVAN, July 21 — According to statistical data, Armenia’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $2.17 billion in January-June 2010. It is 29.8 percent higher than the statistics recorded during the same period of 2009.

As the National Statistics Service of Armenia reported, a growth of 3.4 percent was recorded in the trade turnover in June as compared with May 2010.

At the same time another indicator for economic recovery showed that exports totaled $442.8 billion, which is 55.9 percent higher than the records made during the same period of 2009.

The negative balance of foreign trade turnover amounted to $1.2 billion in January-May 2010.

Last month Armenian Minister of Finance Tigran Davtyan predicted economic growth of 78 percent, whereas according to Armenia’s state budget for the year a growth of only 1.2 percent is expected. According to the minister, the government isn’t in a hurry to revise that prediction despite the fact that if there is positive development, then there will be the possibility for economic growth.

The government is convinced that Armenia now has sustainable economic development.
