YEREVAN (Novosti Armenia), January 27 — On Monday the president of Armenia Serge Sarkisian signed a decree awarding a number of officers and volunteer soldiers with medals on the occasion of Army Day for their courage and self-sacrifice for the protection of their motherland, the presidential press service informs.
In particular, Seyran Vantsyan was awarded a “Services For The Motherland” medal of the first degree; the deputy minister of defense of Armenia Ara Nazaryan and Major General Armen Harutyunyan were awarded “Services For The Motherland” medals of the second degree, and lieutenant colonel Norayr Smbatyan won a medal “For Services in Battle.”
Participants of the Karabagh liberation movement Levon Harutyunyan and Andranik Sarkisian were posthumously awarded medals “For Services in Battle,” and Mher Koshetsyan earned a medal “For Courage.”
