Armenian Population Prefers Investing In Foreign Currency Deposits In January

YEREVAN, March 12 – The population of the Republic of Armenia preferred to place their monetary funds on foreign currency deposits. At the end of January the overall deposit number made up over 710,9 billion dram, it is by 5.9 percent more compared with December of last year, the official site of the RA Central Bank reports.
In comparison with December the volume of fixed deposits has increased by 4.2 percent and has made up 360,9 billion dram at the end of January.
Foreign Currency Non-Fixed Deposits made up 118,8 billion dram in January, accordingly compared with December 2011 they have decreased by 4.4 percent.
At the same time the volume of dram fixed deposits made up 141,2 billion dram in January; it is by 1.2 percent more compared with December 2011, while non-fixed deposits have made up 148,8 billion dram; it is by 7.5 percent less ($1 – 389,79 dram).
