Hovhannes Tumanyan’s Tbilisi House To Be Purchased And Gifted To Armenian Community In Georgia

YEREVAN, January 27 — At the meeting with Tigran Sarkisian, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the future of Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan’s memorial apartment in Tbilisi, Georgia was discussed.
Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan, Chairman of the Writers Union Levon Ananyan and
Hovhannes Tumanyan’s grand-granddaughter Irma Safrazbekyan participated in the meeting. Tumanyan’s grand-granddaughter informed that the house has a purchaser who said once the contract is concluded he will gift it to the Armenian community of Tbilisi, only if they use it as a cultural center.
After the contract conclusion, Armenian Foreign Minister will discuss with the Georgian party legal issues regarding the house’s transfer to the Armenian community.
