YEREVAN, January 25 — In regard to the passing of the bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II sent a letter of gratitude to French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

The letter particularly reads:

“All Armenians around the world are happy. The voice of justice was heard in French Senate. It’s a triumph Armenian people have been waiting for a whole century. The new achievement in the sphere of human rights defense will serve as a ground for further strengthening of the tight and firm friendship established between French and Armenian people. It also brings relief to Armenian people in regard to the commemoration of Armenian Genocide victims and strengthens their faith in universal condemnation.”
